OUR TALE
Briclops is the creation of Brian Murray, a dedicated videographer in Palmerston North with a passion for filming events. As a teenager, Brian tagged along with his older brother and learnt the craft and tools of video making. Brian would help out on video jobs when his brother needed extra camera operators or someone to hold a boom mic or carry his extra gear.
In 2022, Brian started getting more regular video work from other video production companies as well, mostly filming sports games as part of multi-camera production teams or as a single-camera operator working on his own. So Brian decided to start up a video production company with the support of his family. Brian still loves working with his brother on video jobs, but now he carries Briclops equipment as well.
Brian enjoys collaborating with other video production companies, videographers and photographers. He is normally the first to arrive and one of the last to leave. Come say hello to him after the event, or give him a smile or wave and you could end up on the big screen!
Inspiration for the Briclops name was drawn from the 3 Cyclopes brothers (Brontes, Steropes, and Arges) of Greek mythology (Hesiod’s Theogony), who were freed by Zeus. The Cyclopes produced a high-quality weapon (thunderbolt) for Zeus which enhanced his ability to reign as King of the Gods. The thunderbolt is electrical energy tuned into light and sound (the basics of video).
